Valtoris VT-SW6EC is a deterministic, layer 2, 6-Port Industrial EtherCAT Switch that will serve as a high density network junction. With one input and five output ports, control engineers can segment fieldbus networks into efficient star, tree or drop-line topologies with up to 65,535 slave devices per segment.
The VT-SW6EC is not like the usual unmanaged Ethernet switches that use store-and-forward buffering; it is based on an integrated EtherCAT Slave Controller (ESC). It runs on the fly and offers the nanosecond latency and precise Distributed Clocks (DC) synchronization demanded by high-end PLCs and motion controllers.
